— Kara Swanson (Matsumoto), co-founder of the Author Conservatory and YA fantasy author of Dust (Enclave 2020), Realm Award winner of the Reader's Choice and Fantasy categories

Katie genuinely understands craft and knows how to ask the right questions to take a story to the next level.  Her advice is both encouraging and uncompromising – exactly what authors need. Talking with her is always energizing and leaves me filled with great new ideas!

I had the pleasure of working with Katie on my award-winning novel, Seventh City. Her knowledge of the market and craft is invaluable and her process is thorough. Katie’s an editor who will up your game.

Before working with Katie, I had a really good book. Now, I have a fantastic book! I’ve attended conferences and classes on how to write a good book. But nothing compares to having an expert apply all things craft to your personal manuscript!”

Hi, I'm Katie!

A fiction editor, author coach, published author, boho traveler, storyteller, lover of all things nerdy, and consumer of way too much sushi.

I work with women fiction authors who are struggling to gain clarity and confidence in their story, make a profit from their passion, and up-level their writing craft and career. I help them refine their writing skills to create engaging stories that grab the attention of readers, editors, and agents, while guiding them to clarify their niche, get visible in a crowded online marketplace, and develop a strategic marketing plan so they can run a profitable writing business.

I bought into the lie early that creative writers can't make money. That my passion for fiction could only be a hobby, nothing more. For years, I let my fears overrule my dreams.

Yet, I couldn't deny the stories burning inside my heart, waiting to be told. I knew I was meant for so much more.

I wanted to be my own boss.

I wanted the time freedom to be there for my friends and family when they needed me most.

I wanted to encourage and equip women authors to break the creative glass ceiling and create a writing business and life they loved.

One day, I decided to take the leap and I’ve never looked back.
